2024 Recruit Program is Underway
Every Thursday evening, young people in military dress, assemble in ramrod straight formation, as they present the colors of the United States of America and demonstrate their commitment to American values. They are the Miami Valley Young Marines.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for new recruits, age 8 through seniors in high school, who will profit from belonging to our program. We want to bring in good boys and girls who have a demonstrated enthusiasm for a positive lifestyle; and who want to improve their confidence and capability to meet the future challenges of life. The Young Marine core values are:
- Leadership: Learn the skills required to set goals, inspire, and influence.
- Teamwork: Learn to work as a productive member of any team.
- Discipline: Learn how to control your mind and body to conquer all of life’s challenges.
The Young Marines are a national organization that has existed since 1959, under the sponsorship of the United States Marine Corps and the Marine Corps League. Our unit is led by a dedicated adult volunteer staff which makes every effort to pass along positive citizenship values; which include the honorable pursuit of community service; and structured Drug Demand Resistance/Reduction (DDR) education. We are the DDR focal point for the United States Marine Corps. This program benefits the members, combating destructive influences before they can take root.
After graduating from Recruit Training, each Young Marine continues the character building and leadership process. The primary program objective is to instill in each Young Marine the desire to become a life-long, productive, and contributing citizen in the community and to seek advanced education. We are not a military recruiting organization.
