The 8th Annual Downtown Cleanup

Volunteers are needed to help with the eight annual Downtown Cleanup, a half-day beautification effort focused on downtown Springfield. Keep Clark County Beautiful and Greater Springfield CVB is sponsoring the cleanup, which is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 22, with a celebration lunch to begin at 11:30 a.m.

Volunteers need to register by April 14 so organizers can have an accurate count of food and supplies for the event.

Registration forms are available by calling Keep Clark County Beautiful, 521-2023, or by going to www.32trash.org and clicking on the link in the article about the 8th Annual Downtown Cleanup.

YMCA, 300 S. Limestone Street, will serve as the check-in point for the Cleanup. Volunteers will be assigned to spots in the downtown area. Volunteers will be provided with gloves and trash bags, but are asked, if able, to bring tools, such as brooms, rakes, and shovels. Please label your tools.

The 2016 Great Downtown Cleanup attracted 65 volunteers, who picked up over 100 bags of litter, pulled weeds, swept sidewalks, and generally spruced up 30 blocks of downtown Springfield.

Also the Great American Cleanup is on going now. The Great American Cleanup is March 1 to May 31. Individuals and groups can volunteer to pick up litter and/or beautify any public place in Clark County. We will provide trash bags, gloves, a token prize, and disposal of trash, if needed.

Anyone interested can get more information or a paper form, contact Linda Mitchell at 521-2023 or email lmitchell@clarkcountyohio.gov

In 2016, 1,200 people participated in the Great American Cleanup in Clark County. They picked up 522 bags of litter from more than 100 public places. Join them this year and help to keep Clark County clean and beautiful.
