Nominations are being accepted for Fatherhood Awards

Springfield, Ohio, May 11, 2017:  The first annual Clark County Fatherhood Awards has announced that nominations are now open. The aim of the Awards is to recognize the significant role fathers play in their children’s well-being and development and to raise awareness of the value of fathers in the family and the community. It identifies and honors outstanding fathers for their exceptional commitment to raising their children or for their exemplary contribution to the development of children in the community. Candidates must be of excellent character, free of any compromising issues including those related to drug or alcohol abuse, child abuse, or any other issue that might harm the reputation of the awards. There are three categories of awards:

·        The George Gammon Fatherhood Award: Posthumous

·        Living Legend Fatherhood Award: 35 and older

·        Young Dad Award: 34 and younger

The Clark County Fatherhood Awards nominees must meet one or more of the following criteria:

·        Demonstrates an outstanding commitment to raising his children

·        Is an exemplary father

·        Is an inspirational role-model who, as a father, has triumphed over adversity

·        Contributes to the development and well-being of children in the community

·        Provides significant leadership and inspiration to other fathers

·        Nominees may include natural fathers, adoptive fathers, step fathers, foster fathers and grandfathers raising their grandchildren (i.e. acting as their father)

Rules for Nomination

·        The nominee must be a permanent Clark County resident

·        A father may not nominate himself

·        A father can be nominated multiple times (by different nominators)

·        Nominations must be submitted via www.gammonhouseoh.org, or by mail using the downloadable form available from www.gammonhouseoh.org.

·        The deadline for submission is May 26, 2017

The awards will be presented on Saturday, June 17, 2017 during Father Fest / Juneteenth in Springfield.
