Talbott Tower Holdings and its parent company, led by Dayton entrepreneur Javad Adinehzadeh, purchased the 14-story Talbott Tower on Dec. 21, 2018. Since 1974, Talbott Tower has been home to several prestigious law firms and restaurants, as well as other successful businesses and service professionals. The facility underwent renovations in 1996, and the new ownership team says it’s time to update the property.
“The most common thing we hear from our tenants and customers is that the building is a great building, and they look to us to bring new life and a new vision to Talbott Tower,” Adinehzadeh said. “We believe that we have some practical, physical solutions to bring a fresh and exciting atmosphere to our historic treasure.”
Most of the planned changes address infrastructure needs of the property, including:
· Energy-efficient lighting to reduce the building’ carbon footprint by more than 75 percent
· Replacing the roof, and heating and cooling systems
· Installing two fiber optic trunks that can support fast and secure networking
The new owners will provide on-site management, valet parking, concierge services, housekeeping services, and in the future, virtual offices and shared office spaces to attract more businesses.
“We must bring Talbott Tower into the 21st century to meet the needs of our tenants, their customers and the community. To do this, we have commenced on a journey to make Talbott Tower the showpiece our tenants and our community can be proud. We wish to do this by being responsible stewards as well,” Adinehzadeh said.
The home-grown holding company cites its roots in the community as the reason they took on the tower. “Dayton is our home. We believe in the people of Dayton,” Adinehzadeh said. “They are our friends and neighbors. We believe in their industry, their work ethic, and their positive outlook. Talbot Tower is an easy building to love. It has a personality unlike any other building in Dayton. It has a rich and successful heritage. Talbott Tower represents the best of what Dayton and its people have to offer. In a time when many office buildings are struggling to maintain tenants, we are fortunate to have well-established and successful business making Talbott Tower their home. While we believe the building is a historical treasure, the real richness of our community resides in our tenants and their impact on our community.”
ABOUT THE TALBOTT TOWER
Constructed in three stages by the Talbott family, the historic site has been a unique part of Dayton’s history and architecture. The original 3-floor structure was built in 1938 with a five-level parking garage added to the site in 1948. Ten years later, the 14-story tower was finished. At the time of completion, it was the fourth tallest structure in Dayton, reaching nearly 204 feet. Its architectural style was innovative, and demonstrated faith in the strength of American industry and society. The most famous examples of this architectural style are the Chrysler Building in New York City, Chicago’s Board of Trade, and Los Angeles City Hall: Talbott Tower featured rounded corners and ribbon windows, and adorned with extravagant fixtures. Talbot Tower’s 197,000 square feet of leasable space made it a magnet for successful Dayton businesses, and in 1958, the Mead Corporation made Talbott Tower the home of its corporate headquarters. The paper giant remained in Talbot Tower until 1974, after its merger with Piedmont and West Virginia Pulp and Paper Companies requiring a larger facility to house the newly formed MeadWestvaco Corporation.
