Anime Club
Anime Club is for youth ages 13-15 and will take place on Thursday, January 20 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the NTPRD Administration Building. Get together with friends who love anime and manga as much as you do. Club meetings will involve discussing our favorite anime, learning more about japanese culture, watching anime, drawing and more. Macrame Art Class
A Macrame Art Class for ages 18 & older is scheduled for Tuesday, February 1 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the NTPRD Administration Building. Learn the basic and most popular macrame knots to get you started. Make your own macrame mini hanging. It will make the perfect gift or to hang in your home or office. Yoga Flow
A new 6-week session of Yoga Flow will begin Tuesday, February 1 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. This Vinyasa yoga class begins with mindful breathing and warm-ups before moving through seated, standing, and balancing poses. Vinyasa is a movement-based form of yoga, which focuses on flowing with the breath while reducing stress and increasing flexibility. Most postures can be modified for those with physical limitations. Slice of Springfield
Slice of Springfield is for all ages and will be held on Thursday, February 3 from 4:30 – 7:30 pm at Mother Stewart’s Brewery. Who makes the best pizza in Clark County? Pizza, music and fun for the entire family. Have the opportunity to sample pizza from up to 10 area pizza shops and vote for your favorite. This fundraiser will donate 100% of proceeds from tickets to help support National Trail parks and recreation programming. Sliced of Springfield is organized and operated by the Partners for the Parks. Tickets available at NTPRD.org.
Orienteering Event
An Orienteering event will be held on Saturday, February 12 at Old Reid Park and the Kirby Preserve. Enjoy nature in the winter while competing in this thinking sport where you follow a mapped course, using your skills to navigate from one marked location to another. Orienteering is an outdoor navigation sport appropriate for any weather conditions. The courses are for every skill level and ability. Basic orienteering training will be offered at the event. Participants can start the course between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. There is a 2-hour time limit to complete the course. Youth ages 16 & under must have an adult registered with them. The registration fee is $7 and the deadline to register is February 9. Registration is required and available online or in person at the NTPRD Administration Building. Snowball Fight
Snowball Fight will be held through January 31 at Snyder Park. Find the snowball letters around the park and see how many words you can make using the letters. The more letters you find, the more words you can make. One you have your final list, email it to madams@springfieldohio.gov. The person with the most words wins the snowball fight and a NTPRD prize. Setters Youth Volleyball
Setters Volleyball is open to youth in grades 3 & 4. This 7-week, fun, co-ed, instructional league will have modified rules to introduce players to the games. Practices and games will be Monday and Wednesday evenings at Roosevelt Middle School starting in early March. Teams will be organized geographically by school districts when possible. Uniform shirts will be provided. All players must have knee pads. The registration fee is $45 and the deadline to register is February 11. For more information call 937-328-7275.
Slammers Youth Volleyball
Slammers Volleyball is open to youth in grades 5 & 6. This 7-week volleyball league is designed to introduce new players to the game and improve the skill development of returning players. Adjusted net heights and appropriate volleyballs will be used with traditional rally scoring. Practices and games will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at area gyms starting in early March. Teams are organized geographically by school districts when possible. Uniform shirts will be provided. All players must have knee pads. Trail Hikers
Trail Hikers is held on Wednesdays from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. These guided, self-paced hikes allow you to explore and enjoy our local natural environment. The hike on January 19 will be held at New Reid Park. These trails are all natural so be sure to wear your hiking boots.
