“The Beauty of Ecuador” will be guest speaker Bonnie Martens’ topic when the Buds and Blossoms Garden Club (BBGC) meets on Tuesday, November 12. Anyone interested in garden club work, or the topic, is welcome to attend this meeting according to President Betty L. Jones. The meeting will be held in the St. Joseph Church Parish Center, 819 Kenton Street and hostess will be past president Heather Hickle.
The Buds & Blossoms Garden Club is starting its 60th anniversary year this Fall. The club has been affiliated for over 50 years with the City Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs and is a former member of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs.
The garden club has participated in community based service projects over the years, including helping with Community Beautification Committee Adopt-A-Beds, Home Beautification Contest Judges; the Hartman Rock Gardens; the Children’s Memorial, Springfield Art Center and the Springfield Arts Council.
For many years they held public Flower Shows, but now they have an annual Home Beautification Tour each August. The BBGC usually meets the first Tuesday of each month, however their November meeting was changed due to the polls being open and Election Night activities.
