New entrants in the Community Beautification Committee’s annual home beautification program and “Home of the Week” recognition must be entered in the contest by May 3. Entry blanks are available at City Hall in the entrance window near the water payment office, according to Chairman Marianne L. Nave.
There is no charge to enter the contest. Springfield residents who received beautification awards last year are automatically entered in the 53rd Annual Community Beautification Committee Home Beautification Contest
Former winners who were unable to attend the Awards Presentation last year can still claim their awards at the fourth floor switchboard desk at City Hall, Chairman Nave reported. Volunteer Judges are needed for the annual contest. Anyone interested in helping judge for the home beautification program are asked to call the CBC at 323-5865.
The CBC is urging everyone to put out more red, white and blue plantings and to make an extra effort for all properties to look especially neat and colorful this summer in honor of the Clak County Bicentennial Celebration.
Some ”Adopt-A-Bed” volunteers are still needed to assist in planting flower beds all over the city on boulevards and other public owned areas. Anyone interested in this program can still get involved in the planting and maintenance of the beds by contacting the CBC.
On Sunday, September 30th, the CBC will hold a public presentation program at The Courtyard by Marriott – downtown Springfield to recognize citizens for their beautification efforts this year. The beautification committee’s projects and activities are designed to enhance the natural beauty of Springfield.
The CBC meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM in the City Commission Forum Conference Room at City Hall, 76 East High Street and the public is invited to attend. Persons interested in CBC projects, should call Chairman Nave at 323-5865
