This group has been exploring the park weekly for over 10 years, yet each week brings a new discovery! Meet at the parking lot below the dam and experience the beauty and camaraderie found in the outdoors.
READING IN NATURE: The CROW series
Welcome to the CROW series, Children Respecting Our Wildlife; the new program series in collaboration with the New Carlisle Library. Delve into the lives of the wildlife that live right in our own “backyard”. Each month, hear a story, learn some cool facts and do a craft or other interactive activity. This program will sometimes involve going outside.

Wetland Warriors Summer Series – Ages 7-12
This year-round program encourages children to get outside, make new discoveries and foster new friendships while learning about nature firsthand. Each participant will be nature investigators, exploring different mysteries in nature through hands on activities outdoors. Please dress in weather-appropriate gear and footwear. In case of inclement weather, the program is moved indoors at the Davidson Interpretive Center when possible. Pre-registration is required and registration is limited to 15 participants.
Investigation: The Mad River, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Tuesday, June 13
Meet at Leadingham Prairie
Explore the Mad River at one of our new parks to look for macroinvertebrates, birds, fish and other creatures that live in and around Ohio’s rivers. Conduct a water quality assessment to discover the health of the Mad River. You will get wet at this program! Bring your lunch and plenty of cold water to drink. Please wear clothes to get wet in and closed toe shoes.
Living History Day Camp, June 19, 21, 23, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Registrations end when 10 campers fill any one day.
Attention 4th and 5th graders! Discover what it was like to live in the mid-1800’s by attending our Living History Day Camp. Take a tour of the historic Hertzler House, make an old-fashioned meal and find out what toys they played with in that time period. You must register for this program by calling Barbara Arnold at 937-864-1046 or bsadragon@sbcglobal.net. This program is limited to 10 campers a day.
STARGAZE SERIES

Enjoy an evening under the stars with us! This summer, join us behind the Hertzler House Barn for a spectacular view. Explore the mysteries of the night sky with a 14 inch telescope. Please bring something to sit on and dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required and registration is limited to 40 participants.
Fairy and Gnome Fest, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Saturday, June 24

George Rogers Clark Park, Meet at the Demint Shelter
Design a nature home for a fairy, or a gnome! Join us as we celebrate the season by building some tiny houses for those tiny, mythical creatures of the forest. The Park District will supply some “building” materials. Bring your imagination and any natural items you would like to include with your home.
Homeschool Summer Series – Ages 6-12
This summer, we will be offering one program each month for our homeschoolers. Participants need to dress for the weather (old clothes that can get wet), bring a water bottle, wear sunscreen and bug repellant. Pre-registration is required and registration is limited to 40 participants.
