Scrambled Eggs
The spring program Scrambled Eggs is underway at Rebert Pike Nature Park. Start your adventure at the boardwalk off the parking lot. Search for 16 hidden lettered eggs. Each egg has a main base color and a letter. The main base color represents letters from that word. There are a total of five words. After finding all 16 eggs, unscramble the letters and words then email your answer to nationaltrail@springfieldohio.gov. Each photo and correct answer submission counts as an entry into a drawing for prizes. For more information call 328-PARK.
Garlic Mustard Challenge
The Garlic Mustard Challenge is an effort to restore and protect our natural ecosystem. Get out into the parks and remove this invasive plant. An information sheet is available at the NTPRD Administration Building. Bring your bags filled with garlic mustard to the NTPRD Administration Building between the dates of April 12 – May 31. Receive points for each bag dropped off for the chance to win a prize. For more information call 328-PARK.
Nature Stories
Nature Stories will be held on Thursday, April 25 from 10:00 am – 10:30 am at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. Nature stories is for children ages 18 mths – 3 years ( along with an adult). Spend time with your little one during this nature inspired story time and craft. The registration fee is $5 and the deadline to register is April 17. For more information call 328-PARK.
Act On It
Act On It is for children ages 3-5 and will be held on Tuesdays, April 23 – May 28 from 10:00 am – 10:45 am at the NTPRD Administration Building. Participants will explore children’s stories ranging from familiar fairy tales to modern day favorites while learning the basics of presenting for an audience, improvising, and acting in character. The program is held in partnership with the Springfield Arts Council. The registration fee is $40 and the deadline to register is April 19.
Amazing Place-Earth Day Challenge
The Amazing Place Earth Day Challenge is open to ages 8 and older will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Snyder Park. Gather up your team of friends and family and participate in the Earth Day Challenge. Travel to stations filled with fun but challenging environmental activities, obstacles and challenges. Be the first team to finish the race. A team must consist of at least two people, up to a team of four. At least one adult over the age of 18 must be on each team. Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All teams will receive t-shirts. The winning team will receive a grand prize. The registration fee is $25 per team and the deadline to register is April 18. For more information call 328-PARK.
Bike Clinic
A Bike Clinic will be held on Monday, April 29 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Eagle City Soccer Complex. Learn basic bike riding skills, general bike maintenance and basic repair at the program open to adults 18 and older. Participants will need to bring their own bike and helmets are required. The bike clinic is free of charge. Registration is required by April 26. For more information call 328-PARK.
Trail Walkers
The Trail Walkers is a guided, self-paced walk on paved trails and promotes fitness, fellowship and fun. Trail Walkers is held on Tuesdays and the walk on April 23 will meet at Sherman Avenue Park. Trail Walkers is sponsored by Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home and Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home.  Trail Hikers
Trail Hikers is organized by National Trail Parks and Recreation District and held on Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Trail Hikers will be held at Rebert Pike Nature Park on the 1st, 3rd & 5th weeks of the month and at New Reid Park on the 2nd and at Old Reid Park on the 4thweek. These guided, self-paced hikes will allow you to explore and enjoy our local natural environment. Hiking boots are recommended. This program is free. For more information call 328-PARK.
Trail Riders
A new season of Trail Riders will begin on Monday, May 6 at the Eagle City Soccer Complex. These self-paced rides are 10-12 mph and explore local bike trails while promoting fitness and fun. Registration and bike helmets are required.
Tai Chi for Wellness
A 6-week spring session of Tai Chi will be held Fridays, April 26 – May 31 from 8:30 am – 9:30 am for beginners and 9:45 am – 10:45 am for intermediate. Increase your strength, energy, flexibility and emotional outlook through this graceful form of exercise. The registration fee is $40 and the registration deadline is April 23.
