Clark State Develops Indoor Walking Trails to Support Health and Wellness of Campus Community

Clark State Community College continues making strides toward a healthy community of faculty, staff and students with the addition of indoor walking trails.

“Health and wellness – and our students, employees and the community’s well-being – are a priority at Clark State,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State. “Ensuring that we provide these opportunities is part of our mission.”

Clark State created indoor walking trails on the Springfield campus, complete with maps and directional footsteps. Maps marking the starting points of the indoor trails are posted at entrances in the LRC, Rhodes Hall and the Applied Science Center. Walkers will also notice footsteps at each starting point, along with coordinating numbers equating the distance of each trail.

The indoor yellow trail is .30 of a mile, the indoor blue trail is .35 of a mile, the outdoor pink trail is .20 of a mile and the combined green indoor plus outdoor trail is .60 of a mile.

Each trail can be used in conjunction with another to make them longer. The maps for the indoor walking trails are available in Clark State’s mobile app “Clark State Connect” for easy access.

The indoor walking trails provide students, employees and members of the community with an alternative to being outdoors when weather conditions are not ideal.

In addition to the indoor and outdoor walking trails, Clark State feature’s a free outdoor fitness park – The Clark State Fit Stop – on the main campus in Springfield.
