Clark State to Hold Employment Open House for Adjunct Faculty

Clark State Community College will host an Adjunct Faculty Employment Open House on Tuesday, March 26 from 5 – 7 p.m. The College is seeking qualified, diverse, progressive instructors to teach classes in a variety of academic areas and formats for summer term beginning May 28 and fall term beginning August 19.

“We’re excited about hosting this event and connecting with members of our community who would like to make an impact by teaching Clark State students,” said Mike Cuffman, assistant dean of Arts and Sciences for Clark State.

Teaching opportunities may be during the day, evening or weekend at one of Clark State’s campuses or online. Teaching experience is preferred – but not required – in all areas.

The Arts and Sciences Division is seeking instructors for several different disciplines at Clark State. Minimum requirements include a master’s degree in the subject discipline or a master’s degree and a minimum of 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the subject area.

The Business and Applied Technologies Division is looking for adjunct instructors to teach in a variety of academic areas. Minimum requirements generally include a master’s degree; in a few select areas, less than a master’s degree may be considered if the applicant has sufficient work experience and/or industry credentials.

The Health, Human and Public Services Division has several openings for adjunct faculty. Requirements vary, but all require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

Shashi Chadha has been an adjunct instructor at Clark State for more than 40 years. In 1977, she began teaching Introduction to Psychology at Clark State.

“I love teaching at Clark State and always feel proud to be one of the adjunct faculty at our college,” said Chadha. “It is very satisfying to see some of our students doing well in life and become contributing members of our community as nurses in the hospital, managers at restaurants and stores and others finishing their master’s degrees and working as counselors or psychologists.”

Cuffman said applicants will meet with administrators and full-time program faculty at this open house to discuss qualifications and employment opportunities. “Applicants should bring copies of resumes, transcripts and applicable certifications/licensures, if feasible,” he said. “They will be helpful in determining if required qualifications are met.”

The Adjunct Faculty Employment Open House will be held on Clark State’s main campus at 570 East Leffel Lane in Springfield. Interested applicants should visit the LRC Building, Room 207-209 from 5 – 7 p.m.
