CLUB AWARDING MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP AND DINNER

The Fortnightly Musical Club of Springfield will have its annual meeting, dinner and scholarship awarding Tuesday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. at Northridge United Methodist Church, 4610 Derr Road.  This year’s theme is

Celebrate the Arts with “Celebrating Musical Fellowship” for the month of May.  The scholarship winner will play for the members and guests of the club and then receive his scholarship.  The $1,000 winner for 2017-1018 is Ryan Greenside, trombone, from Fairborn High School.  He will be playing Kevin McKee’s “A Winter’s Night” and Arthur Pryor’s arrangement of “Annie Laurie”.  Ryan plans to go to Ohio University this fall and study Music Education.  He has been studying trombone for 7 years and has participated in Fairborn Marching Band, Symphonic Winds, Concert Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Musical Pit, Indoor Drumline and Jazz Improvisation.  Ryan was also a 2017 Wright State University Honor Band Member.

The meal will be prepared and served by Lee’s Catering.  Following the meal there will be a special program by 2016 scholarship winner David Kestner, saxophone, who is studying music at Wright State University.  He will be accompanied by Rachel Smith of Enon.  All members are encouraged to attend the banquet on May 22.  Reservations are made by call Mrs. Marthena Sayers, President of the club by May 20th.
