On October 29-31, 2017 twenty of our Springfield-Clark CTC student officers attended the SkillsUSA State Fall Leadership Conference at the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio (See Officer Team Pic).  During the conference over 1200 students and teachers received leadership training, attended their regional elections or leadership training and had the privilege of hearing from a renowned motivational speaker.  Our students worked very hard and were great representatives of the Springfield Clark CTC.  As the current SkillsUSA State Secretary, Jenna Fitch (Shaw) a senior in Dental Assisting, , was one of the seven students who ran the conference and conducted some of the leadership training sessions (See Jenna Pics).

On Tuesday they held the regional elections.  There are six regions in Ohio with Springfield-Clark CTC being a part of the Southwest region.  Seven of our students (maximum allowed by a school) qualified to run for regional office and they all made it to the final two for their office, which is a first for Springfield Clark CTC.  The students were Jerid Jenkins (KR), Cheyenne Williams (Tec), Hailey Pennington (Shaw), Kara Horn (Tec), Beda Hinderer (NE), Breann Blue (Tec) and Macy McGillivray (KR) (See Officer Candidates Pic).  They competed against over twenty eight students from seventeen different career technical schools from the Southwest region of Ohio.  All of our students did a great job.  We are proud to announce that two of our students were elected in as SkillsUSA Southwest Regional officers.  They were selected based on their leadership, speaking ability and professionalism.  Jared Jenkins a junior in Engineering & CNC is the new Southwest Regional Historian and Kara Horn a senior in Engineering & CNC is the new Southwest Regional President (See Jared & Kara Pic).  They will represent the Southwest Region of SkillsUSA for the 2017/2018 school year.  They and the other regional officers from Ohio will be attending a weeklong training on January 14-19, 2018 in Leesburg Va. and Washington DC which will include a visit to our nation’s capital and meetings with our state representatives. As runner-ups, Cheyenne Williams, Hailey Pennington, Beda Hinderer, Breann Blue and Macy McGillivray will be alternates and if for some reason one of the elected officers are not able to complete the duties of their office, they will take over the office.    If you have any questions feel free to contact me and I would be happy to explain more.
