Toni Overholser, director of workforce and business solutions for Clark State Community College, has been named the 2018 Greene County Career Center Friend of Education.
“Toni Overholser is the game changer, the difference maker, the fire-starter, and the consummate convener for all workforce development matters that involve Clark State and the businesses, industries, and educational partners that we serve,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State. “Clark State is known for its responsiveness and follow-through in workforce development and education because of Toni’s tireless efforts. She is a champion of both Clark State and education, and she understands our efforts directly translate into a stronger Greene County and Beavercreek.”
The Greene County Career Center Friend of Education is presented annually to an individual, business or organization that exemplifies the Career Center’s mission of empowering students through advanced technologies, integrated instruction and community partnerships to succeed in career, college and life.
“I am honored to be named the Greene County Career Center Friend of Education,” said Overholser. “I am grateful to be a part of such a vibrant community that values education and training at every level.”
Overholser said she appreciates everything her colleagues at the career center and Clark State do to provide support to students and businesses in this region. “I honestly don’t feel worthy of this award, when there are so many people who contribute to these efforts; including the chamber, the city and our economic development partners,” she said. “Beavercreek and Greene County have thriving business communities because of these efforts, and I’m proud to play a small role in that. I appreciate everyone’s support, and I’m very proud of the collective work that we do.”
Overholser is this year’s recipient due to her long-time commitment to career-technical education and, especially, to Greene County Career Center as a community leader, education professional and parent of a Greene County Career Center alumnus. She has supported the Career Center as president and CEO of the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce then as director of workforce and business solutions for Clark State Community College. She is a longtime member of the Greene County Career Center Superintendent’s Advisory Board where her insight and contributions are respected and valued.
“Toni provides incredible perspective that helps drive our school as it provides career opportunities for high school and adult students,” said David Deskins, superintendent of Greene County Career Center. “We are fortunate to have someone who is willing to commit their time and effort to help our young adults find options that ultimately drive workforce development in the region. She is a true professional, and Greene County is blessed to have her working with Clark State Community College.”
Overholser has been with Clark State since 2014, and in her current role as director of workforce and business solutions since September of 2016. She will be honored at the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce Celebration of Excellence Gala, Friday, January 26 at the Hope Hotel and Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center, Dayton.
