Trail Tot Camp
Trail Tot Camp is open to children ages 3-5 and will be held the week of June 4-8 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. Campers will participate in fun-filled age appropriate nature themed activities during this week long camp. Arts and crafts, music, dancing and outdoor games and activities will be included. The registration fee is $55 and the deadline to register is May 29 or when full. Online registration is available at www.ntprd.org or in person at the NTPRD Administration Building. Children must be toilet trained to attend. Passport to Fishing
Passport to Fishing will be held on June 1 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Old Reid Park. Passport to Fishing is open to youth ages 4-16 along with an adult companion. This is a beginner fishing program where participants learn fishing skills while having fun and enjoying the great outdoors. Education stations will teach fish habitats, fish handling and casting followed by fishing time in the ponds. Meet at the shelter house next to Wiggley Field. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Pre-registration is required and space is limited for this free program. Registration is available online by going to www.ntprd.org. Beginners Country Two Step Dance
A new Beginners Country Two Step Dance class will be offered on Tuesdays June 5 – June 26 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. The Country Two Step is a partner dance usually danced to slow to medium tempo country western music. It is a fun dance and the basics are fairly simple to learn. Single or couples are welcome. The registration fee is $25 per person and pre-registration is required and available by going to www.ntprd.org.
It’s Time For Tea From the Wild
The program It’s Time For Tea From the Wild is scheduled for Saturday, June 9 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. Learn the history of tea along with different herbs and wild plants that are best to make tea and how to grow them. The instructor will be Rebecca Wood who has been an herbal educator for over 25 years and a Natural Health Professional. Receive an herb plant to take home. The registration fee is $25 and the deadline to register is June 4. For more information call 328-PARK.
Youth Soccer Clinics
Youth Soccer Clinics for youth in grades 3rd – 8th will be held on Wednesdays, June 6, 13, 20 & 27 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Evans Stadium in Springfield. The clinics are designed for players of all skill levels who want to improve their fundamental soccer skills in a fun, safe, encouraging environment. The clinics will be progressive each week and are free. Pre-registration is required and available online at www.ntprd.org or in person at the NTPRD Administration Building. Trail Walkers
Trail Walkers is held on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on our local multi-purpose trails. Trail Walkers is a guided, self-paced walk that highlights the multi-purpose trail system while promoting fitness, fellowship and fun. The next Trail Walkers is scheduled for May 22 on the Simon Kenton Trail and meeting at Splash Zone Waterpark. The 2018 Trail Walkers program is sponsored by Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home and Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. Trail Hikers
Trail Hikers is organized by National Trail Parks and Recreation District and held on Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Rebert Pike Nature Park on the 1st, 3rd & 5th weeks of the month and at New Reid Park on the 2nd & 4th week. These guided, self-paced hikes will allow you to explore and enjoy our local natural environment. Hiking boots are recommended. The program is free. For more information call 328-PARK.
Trail Riders
The next Trail Riders is scheduled for May 21 and meeting at the Heritage Center. Trail Riders is a guided, self-paced biking program that explores our local multi-purpose trails while promoting fitness and fun. The spring rides will be approximately 10-15 miles. Bike to Work Day
Celebrate Bike to Work Day 2018 on Friday, May 18 from 7:00 to 8:30 am at the Springfield City Hall Plaza. Activities include music, fitness class, food and more.
