Spring Wildflower Hike
A Spring Wildflower Hike will take place on Friday, April 7 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at George Rogers Clark Park. Discover spectacular shows of spring wildflowers as you hike the beautiful trails. The walk will begin at the Demint Shelter House. Leading the walk will be Pam Bennett, Horticulture Educator and State Master Gardener Coordinator with the Ohio State University Extension. Read With the Trees
Read With the Trees, open to children ages 4-7 along with an adult, will be held on Wednesday, April 19 from 4:30 to 5:30 pm at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. Enjoy the benefits of reading and literature while experiencing nature. Participants will also have the opportunity to sing songs, play games and make a craft. This program is free. Early Childhood Art Exploration
A spring edition of the Early Childhood Art Exploration class will begin on Friday April 21 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Early Childhood Art Exploration is open to children ages 2-4 along with an adult and will be held at the Springfield Museum of Art. Explore art elements such as color, texture and line through messy fun engaging projects and activities. Perfect for the child who loves exploration. The registration fee is $50 for the six-week class and the registration deadline is April 14, 2017. Registration is available by going to www.ntprd.org.This program is a partnership between National Trail Parks and Recreation District and the Springfield Museum of Art. Earth Day Amazing Place Challenge
The Earth Day Amazing Place Challenge will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in Snyder Park for ages 7 & older. Gather clues, complete obstacles, games and challenges to continue on your journey to try and be the first team finished. A team consists of two to four people. An adult over the age of 18 must be on each team. Participants will receive a t-shirt and prizes will be given to the winners. Bike Clinic
A Bicycle Clinic for ages 18 and older will be held on Monday, April 24 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Eagle City Soccer Complex. Get ready for the biking season by learning basic bike riding skills, general bike maintenance, basic repair instruction as well as a skills course. Participants must bring their own bike and helmets are required. The registration fee is $10. Pre-registration is required and is available online by going to www.ntprd.org or in person at the NTPRD Administration Building. For more information call 328-PARK.
Nature Journaling Series
The next Nature Journaling walk will be Saturday, April 29 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Rebert Pike Nature Park. Practice creative writing, drawing and other artistic devices as you journal in nature. Bring your own journal. This program is held outdoors. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is available online by going to www.ntprd.org. For more information call 328-PARK.
Trail Walkers
Trail Walkers will meet on Tuesday, April 11 at 10:00 am at the Eagle City Soccer Complex to walk on the Simon Kenton Trail. Trail Walkers highlights the multi-purpose trail system while promoting fitness, fellowship and fun. These guided walks are self-paced. Blood pressure checks will be offered and provided by the Clark County Combined Health District. The 2017 Trail Walkers program is sponsored by Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home and Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. Trail Hikers
Trail Hikers is organized by National Trail Parks and Recreation District and held on Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Rebert Pike Nature Park on the 1st, 3rd & 5th week of the month and at New Reid Park on the 2nd & 4th weeks of the month. These guided, self-paced hikes will allow you to explore and enjoy our local natural environment. Softball Summer Leagues
Register now for Softball Summer Leagues including Men’s Open on Wednesday and Friday night and Sunday Coed to be played at Lagonda Park. Teams will play a 10 game schedule beginning on April 26. Spaces are limited to first-come, first-served. The registration deadline is April 8, 2017. The registration fee is $485 per team (includes USSSA Sanction Fee). For more information call 328-PARK.
Co-Ed Kickball League
Registration is underway for adult Co-Ed Kickball for adults ages 18 & Older. Get a group of friends together for this fun and exciting recreational kickball league. Teams will play a 10 game schedule on Thursday nights starting May 4 at Snyder Park Field. Teams must be a minimum of 10 players (5 male & 5 female). The team registration fee is $150.
