CBC AWARDS

The Community Beautification Committee held its 52nd annual Awards Presentation on Sunday October 15th, at the Courtyard by Marriott – Downtown Springfield, according to Chairman Marianne L. Nave and Co-Chairman W. Duane Sims.

Tricia and Mike Frazee, 602 East Home Road, won the Home of the Year Award for their outstanding property in Springfield. Mayor Warren C. Copeland and City Commissioners Joyce Chilton and Dan Martin congratulated all the winners.

The Business of the Year Award went to the Heart of Country Gift Shoppe, located at 1600 East Leffel Lane, for dedicated and outstanding beautification efforts. A CBC Business Award was presented for Rose City Manufacturing, Inc., located at 900 West Leffel Lane. A Continuing Beautification Award was presented to Clark State Community College in recognition of outstanding and continued beautification efforts on a year round basis on all of their properties.

Special Awards were presented to Ethan E. Harris and staff for the Clark County Land Bank beautification projects, to Kirby and Diea Wolford, to Paul and Melody Snyder of Spring Run Farms and to City Forester James Wills and staff for their efforts contributing to the CBC mission to enhance the natural beauty of the city.

Home of the Week winners recognized included Corrine L. Smith, Cheryl Sample, Doug and Linda Pappert, Frank and Marilyn Demma, Carl and Debbie Bumgarner, Ron and Ann deLanglade, B. J. and Kelly Hamilton, Scott Mead, Rick and Sheri Hall, Nancy Lanham and Paul C. Parlato.  Mr. Mead also received a Unique Landscaping Award and the Bumgarners and deLanglades received Horticulture Awards for their properties.

Adopt-A-Bed Awards were presented to The Applin Family, Dale Lucas and Terry L. Smith for their dedicated volunteer efforts. First year CBC Shield Awards were presented as well as Numeral Awards for subsequent years to those participants in the annual home beautification program. CBC committee members David Williams received a 35  year service award and Betty L. Jones received a 15 year service award.
