Clark State Named to Nation’s Top Military Friendly Schools

Clark State Community College was named to the Nation’s Top Military Friendly® Schools for 2019-20. The list of “Better for Veterans” institutions were identified across the country by VIQTORY: a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that connects the military community to civilian employment, educational and entrepreneurial opportunities through its G.I. Jobs®, Military Spouse, and Military Friendly® brands.

Now in its 10th year, the Military Friendly® Schools list provides a comprehensive guide for veterans and their families using data sources from federal agencies and proprietary survey information from participating organizations.

“Being designated as a Top 10 Military Friendly School is definitely an honor, but more importantly, it reinforces that the services Clark State offers to our veteran and military populations to give them the tools necessary to adapt and be successful in an educational environment,” said Diana Seaman, registrar for Clark State.

Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by VIQTORY with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, especially, for student veterans.

Clark State currently serves United States military veteran students, active military students, National Guard and Reserve students, dependents and military spouses.

Clark State received the designation of Top School in the 2018 Military Advanced Education & Transition (MAE&T) Guide to Colleges & Universities. This honor is awarded to institutions with the very best practices in military- and veteran-supportive education.

In 2015 Clark State was designated as a Purple Heart Campus and was approved by the Community College of the Air Force as a General Education Mobile (GEM) partner. Clark State was the first community college in Ohio to receive this approval. The College also features a Veterans Lounge that provides student veterans with a place to unwind, study, hold meetings or network.

Clark State students have also been inducted into the SALUTE National Honor Society. SALUTE – Service, Academics, Leadership, Unity, Tribute, Excellence – is the only national honor society recognizing and honoring the service and scholastic achievements of student veterans.

Clark State offers a 50 percent tuition discount to active duty military students and a 25 percent discount to eligible spouses.  In order to be eligible for the discounted tuition, you must present active orders or your military ID (for Ohio National Guard and Reserves only) to the Cashier’s Office.
