Play Pals
Play Pals will be held on Thursday, September 14 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District Administration Building. Play Pals is open to children ages 2-4 along with an adult companion. Play Pals offers parents and caregivers the opportunity to participate with their little ones on fun activities including storytime, singing, along with activity stations and arts and crafts. The registration fee is $5 and the registration deadline is September 11. For more information call 328-PARK.
Live At Lunch
Live at Lunch will take place on Friday, September 15 from 12:00 to 1:30 pm at the Commons Park in downtown Springfield. Start the weekend early by relaxing on your lunch break, listening to live entertainment. Food trucks will be on site. Live at Lunch will feature the acoustic sounds of local artist Tony Powell. Live at Lunch is sponsored by Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
The Life and Times of American Folk Hero Johnny Appleseed
The Life and Times of Johnny Appleseed will be presented on Saturday, September 16 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Snyder Park. Take a walk and learn about the life of Johnny Appleseed with a portrayal by Douglas Horvath, visit the Heritage Garden along with arts and crafts. Program is free and open to ages 4 and older. Meet at the Snyder Park Clubhouse. Please use the State Route 40 entrance to Snyder Park. For more information call 328-PARK.
Outdoor Movie Night
The next Outdoor Movie Night will take place on Saturday, September 16 at Veterans Park in Springfield, featuring “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. Grab a blanket, lawn chair family and friends and head to the movies. Enjoy these outdoor movies projected on a large inflatable screen. Movies begin at dark (approximately 8:30 pm).
Summer Letterbox Adventure
Learn about our local parks, museums and more on this fun and educational adventure. Pick up a Summer Letterbox Booklet and fine clues to help you find the letterboxes hidden in local parks and facilities including the  Springfield Museum of Art, the Heritage Center, Warder Literacy and the Clark County Park District. Return the completed booklets to receive a completion certificate and be eligible for prizes. Booklets are available at National Trail Parks and Recreation District, the Clark County Park District, Heritage Center and Warder Literacy. The Summer Letterbox Adventure ends August 31. For more information call 328-PARK.
The Snyder Secret Treasure Hunt
Snyder Secrets Treasure Hunt is held at Snyder Park and is open to all ages. Solve the cluestones hidden throughout Snyder Park to find the hidden Snyder Brother’s gold treasure. Share photos from your adventure by tagging National Trail Parks and Recreation District on Facebook or by e-mailing it to nationaltrail@springfieldohio.gov. Each photo counts as an entry into a drawing for prizes to be held the week of October 1. Make sure you don’t reveal any clues in your photo. Individuals who successfully locate the Snyder brother’s treasure should bring one of the found gold tokens to the National Trail Administration Building to be entered into the grand prize drawing. Trail Walkers
Trail Walkers will meet on Tuesday, September 5 at the Eagle City Soccer Complex to walk on the Simon Kenton Trail. Trail Walkers highlights the multi-purpose trail system while promoting fitness, fellowship and fun. These guided walks are self-paced. The 2017 Trail Walkers program is sponsored by Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home and Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. Trail Hikers
Trail Hikers is organized by National Trail Parks and Recreation District and held on Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Rebert Pike Nature Park on the 1st, 3rd & 5th week of the month and at New Reid Park on the 2nd & 4th weeks of the month. These guided, self-paced hikes will allow you to explore and enjoy our local natural environment. Hiking boots are recommended. The program is free. For more information call 328-PARK.
Old Reid Park Tennis Center
Old Reid Park Tennis Centers hours of operations are Monday – Thursday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Saturday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm through Labor Day. Additional weekday mornings available by special appointment. Punch cards and season passes available. For more information call 328-PARK.
