Clark State Community College continues to maintain a quality, affordable education for students. Just one year following the implementation of the eCampus bookstore, Clark State announced a student savings of $372,253.00.
eCampus is an online bookstore format that allows students the option to purchase new or used textbooks, electronic versions, rentals or purchase directly from other students.
“Our students appreciate the cost savings and ordering and delivery efficiency available through using eCampus,” said Larry Wakefield, vice president of business affairs for Clark State. “The faculty, staff and administration appreciate eCampus’s effort to improve the program as we move forward.”
The Clark State administration was looking for a way to reduce the student cost of books and provide enhanced service. Wakefield said each semester the bookstore had an incredible volume of students waiting in line to choose their textbooks. With eCampus, student enrollment information is passed to the virtual bookstore. When a student logs in, the system knows which classes they are registered for and pre-populates their cart with the required textbooks.
Wakefield said most books cost less due to the volume purchasing power of eCampus and their large inventory of used books. “eCampus has been in the business of providing low cost textbooks to students since 1998,” said Wakefield. “Their relationships with vendors, advanced warehouse logistics and vast purchasing power result in savings to students by both lowering costs on textbooks and giving students more options when purchasing.”
Through eCampus, Clark State students are able to ship books to their home or to one of Clark State’scampus locations. Textbooks ordered through eCampus are delivered via UPS within 24 to 48 hours. Most in-stock books ordered by 4 p.m. will arrive on the next business day. Books are shipped for a fixed cost of $5 regardless of the number of books ordered.
