Youth Orchestras Springfield Children’s Chorus

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will present the Springfield Youth Orchestras and Children’s Chorus in concert on Monday, November 20th at 7:00pm at Southgate Baptist Church, 2111 S. Center Blvd., Springfield, OH.  This annual concert will feature the Springfield Youth Symphony under the direction conductor Carlos Elias, the Springfield Youth Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Lori Wright, and the Springfield Youth String Ensemble under the direction of Janet Fu.  The concert will also feature the newly re-imagined Springfield Children’s Chorus, now under the direction of Sean Hurley.  The concert is open to the public and free of charge, though there will be a pass the hat opportunity to support the youth between the performances of the Youth Chamber Orchestra and Youth Symphony.

Music will include selections by Aram Khachaturian, Carol Nunez, Richard A. Stephen, and more. The evening will also feature performances by the “Live Wire” chamber ensembles of the Springfield Youth Symphony.

The Springfield Youth Orchestras and Chorus feature young musicians from 30 schools and home schools from a six county area.  The Springfield Youth Symphony is one of the few opportunities in Clark County for students to perform in a full orchestra setting.  The Chorus is being presented in an abbreviated format this year in order to attract students who are busy with other commitments.

The Youth Orchestras and Chorus welcome everyone to join them for this wonderful evening of music.  For further information please call 937-325-8100 or visit the website at .  Partial funding for the Youth Programs is provided by Honda, Security National Bank, the Ruth B and Thomas F Mackey Charitable Trust, the Wilson Sheehan Foundation, Gordon Food Service, Mark Grimes, The Kiwanis Foundation, Johnson Welded Products, and Speedway.
