Springfield, Ohio – Through a joint effort the Springfield Conservancy District, the Clark County Combined Health District’s Creating Healthy Communities Coalition, National Trail Parks and Recreation District (NTPRD) and the Springfield Police Division have collaborated in creating a positive, welcoming and safer environment for those who utilize the multi-use trail network throughout the Springfield / Clark County community. As a result, the Springfield Police Division will continue to expand their bike patrols for the trail network.
The patrols cover the of multi-use trails including the Buck Creek and Simon Kenton trails as well as a portion of the Little Miami Scenic trail. Increased use and popularity of the trails has allowed officers to gain additional face time with the public and build an even closer relationship with the community. Bicycle patrols create a safer atmosphere and allow users to feel protected on the trails, encouraging more physical activity throughout the county.
The Springfield Police Division certified bike patrols began June 23rd and will continue through the fall. To date, more than 75 patrols have been completed for the greater Springfield area this year. These patrols have covered more than 775 miles of trails and resulted in over 153 hours of police presence on the trails and surrounding trail areas.
